Concerns over Changes to the Travel Approval Process

1 September 2023 • CMCFA Chief Negotiator

We are are aware that the administration is communicating changes to the travel approval process. As we all know, travel is an important part of our work as university professors and we wish to protect our ability to carry out this important aspect of our work.

We believe that changing this process at this time could constitute a violation of bargaining statutory freeze, which protects our working conditions while we are engaged in collective bargaining with the employer. Failing to consult the CMCFA on such a change to our working conditions could also constitute a violation of article 26.03 of our collective agreement.

Please know that we are actively engaged in this important issue and that we have requested discussions with senior members of the administration on the issue. While our current focus is on changes to the travel approval process, we would love to hear of other concerns you may have with travel. Please reach out to the Chief Bargaining Officer at leblanc@cmcfa-apcmc.ca if you have comments or concerns.
